After about five hours of negotiation, a police chase turned hostage situation at a Baltimore Burger King has been peacefully resolved, with all four hostages being released and accounted for.
The suspect, who according to WBAL TV 11, is wanted for a rape that occurred in the last 24-48 hours, was stopped by a police officer around 11a.m. Sunday morning. Upon being recognized, the armed suspect then proceeded to evade arrest and a pursuit began. After colliding with another vehicle, the suspect fled into a Burger King and took the customers inside as hostages.
According to the Baltimore Police’s spokesperson, T.J. Smith, the hostages included a seven-year old, a 25-year old female manager, a 17-year old female employee and a 67-year old man.
The 17-year old employee was released at 1:45p.m., the 67-year old man was released at 2:20p.m. and around 4:50p.m., the suspect finally released the 25-year old manager and the seven-year old child. None of the hostages were harmed.
The passengers of the vehicle the suspect collided with, according to Smith, were treated at a local hospital for minor injuries.
The unnamed suspect is now in police custody.
