Famous R&B singer Chris Brown was released from jail following a charge of assault with a deadly weapon after posting $250,000 in bail Tuesday night.
Brown had been arrested by police early Tuesday morning following an accusation by actress and model, Baylee Curran, who claimed that he pulled out a gun after she began to admire another man’s jewelry.
As the L.A. Times reports, police arrived at Brown’s residence around 3 a.m. after receiving a phone call that a woman was threatened by Brown. According to Curran, she was visiting Brown’s house with a business friend of hers, wanting to discuss potential future business plans with Brown. Curran also told the Times that other people were present at his house and at one point a man began to show off his jewelry: diamond bracelets, diamond necklaces and diamond watches to her.
“I was just standing over it admiring it…not touching it,” Curran told ABCNews. “[T]hen one of Chris’s friends says back away from the diamond.”
According to Curran, this is when Brown came into the room.
“[He} said ‘I’m so sick of all you people.’ He took the gun out, put it in my face and said ‘Get the F out.’”
Curran and her friend then ran out of the house but as the L.A. Times reports, had to wait for one of Brown’s associates to bring them her phone, which she had to turn in to enter the residence. Brown’s associate returned with the phone and a disclosure agreement, Curran said, but she refused to sign, swiped her phone out of his hand and ran away. The man apparently went after them in a Jeep but she and her friend hid under a neighbor’s SUV until the neighbor called police.
A 14-hour standoff between Brown and police then erupted as police waited for a search warrant. During this time, Brown continously posted videos on Instagram claiming his innocence and that they would find nothing once they gained entry.
This isn’t Brown’s first run-in with the law, having a previous record that includes a hit-and-run, driving without a license, several assault incidents, gun threats and his infamous domestic abuse charge for beating his then-girlfriend, Rihanna, back in 2009.
Curran, according to gossip website TMZ, isn’t completely clean either having lost her title as Miss California Regional 2016 due to lying to pageant officials about being the subject of a series of nude photos that were released and never attending community functions. TMZ also said that Curran has yet to return the crown and is also a suspect in a NY case involving the theft of a woman’s $1,000 Louis Vuitton purse at a Plaza hotel.
While Brown has not been formally charged, he is scheduled for a court appearance on Sept. 20.
